Côte d'Ivoire Air Force

The Air Force of Cote d'Ivoire was established in 1961 and it is organised on a French model and operates comparatively modern fleet.

After achieving independence from France in 1960, Cote d'Ivoire maintained strong links with France through bilateral defence agreements. French training and operating techniques has been used since the establishment of the airforce. The first equipment supplied included three Douglas C-47's and seven MH.1521 Broussard STOL utility aircraft in 1961. The first jet aircraft to enter service in october 1980 was 6 Alpha jet CI light attack and advanced training aircraft, 6 more that were ordered were cancelled but anther was purchased in 1983.
